TERMS & CONDITIONS

TRAVEL

The volunteer is solely responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel, specifically including all airfares or other transport costs to and from the host country as well as any local transport costs not allocated in the program (ex. Going on a safari, going site seeing, or weekend trip throughout the country). It is the responsibility of the volunteer to carry all necessary documents when traveling abroad. While the ACF may advise the volunteer on required travel documentation, the ACF is not responsible for any supporting documents necessary for the volunteer's travel needs or other purposes. *Note* passports are required & volunteers will need a visa to visit Kenya. The visa can be obtained at the airport upon arrival or from volunteers home country through their Kenyan embassy before departure.

INSURANCE

The Abandoned Children's Foundation International Volunteering does not provide the volunteer with travel insurance of any kind. Travel insurance is mandatory to volunteer with the ACFIV. We have partnered with World Nomad Travel Insurance and recommend them because they are one of best travel insurance on the market and have been used by international volunteers all over the world. The volunteer is solely responsible for evaluating and determining the type, extent, and levels of any insurance coverage they need or desire for their planned volunteer travel period. Get a Quote

REFUND POLICY

Your deposit of up to $250 USD to secure your placement for one of our volunteer programs if fully refundable as long as we have the volunteers request submitted via e-mail to refund@acfvolunteers.org asking to withdraw from the volunteer trip 60-days prior to the programs start date. Volunteers must include their name, date of program, program placement, and reason for withdrawal. If the volunteer signs up less than 60 days but greater than 30 days from the programs start date the volunteer will have 72 hours (3 days) to withdraw from the volunteer trip and receive a full refund of your program deposit (up to $250 USD). If the volunteer changes their start date, the date used for refund purposes will be the earliest dates the volunteer has indicated on their application form, unless agreed upon otherwise. If you were recruited by one of our international volunteer recruiters and placed their recruiter number on your volunteer application, their 10% commission is not refunded to the volunteer.
Additionally, if a volunteer fails to submit a withdrawal email from the volunteer program within the timelines indicated above the volunteer forfeits the right to a refund. The ACF reserves the right to revise the registration/program fees at any time. All registration/program fee revisions will be made via the ACF website with seven days advanced notice before they will take effect. Registration/program fee revisions are not applicable to volunteers who have already submitted their application and deposit of up to $250 USD before the revisions are due to take effect. A volunteer’s placement on a program cannot be confirmed until the program deposit of 25% up to $250 USD has been paid in full.
Furthermore, because we are a nonprofit organization your program fees are tax deductible donations benefiting the Abandoned Children’s Foundation’s operations in Kenya. Your program fees not only support your placement on our programs, a large portion supports the growth and operations of our orphanages/children’s homes in Kenya. Because of this, only your deposit securing your placement with our programs is refundable. Any fees paid above your deposit will not be able to be refunded and will be used as a donation to help the Abandoned Children’s Foundation to continue operating our orphanages and help the Abandoned Children’s Foundation build new orphanages.

PROGRAMS & FEES

International volunteering program fee revisions will be made via the ACFIV website with seven days advanced notice before they take effect. Program fee revisions are not applicable to volunteers who have already paid their registration fee before the revisions take effect. Program fees are due 14 days prior to the beginning of the volunteers program placement. Failure to make this payment can result in a loss of volunteer placement with no refund of registration fee. Registration fees and program fees are not transferable to other persons.

CHANGE OF DATE & DURATION

Once registered and before the volunteers begin their trip with the ACFIV, the volunteer is entitled to change their start date and duration once, at no additional cost. If they need to change their start date or duration a second time they will be required to pay an administration fee of $75 for each additional change.
